Tacoma Central Logistics

The Tacoma Central Logistics project is located at the intersection of South State Street and South Trafton Street in Tacoma, WA. The project was completed in May of 2023 and is less than 2 miles from Downtown Tacoma. Before construction of the new building began, the existing site underwent demolition, including a 240,000 SF building previously occupied for general office and warehouse use. The improved property features 12 acres of land and a 248,000 SF class A concrete tilt-up warehouse distribution center.

The facility supports the rapid growing demand for close-in storage distribution and direct-to-consumer e-commerce trends. The building has a 36-foot clear height, double-loaded dock-high access, 130–150-foot truck courts, and multiple access points. It features a secured and sufficient trailer and outside parking with 161 stalls, 49 trailer stalls, 4 grade doors, and 59 dock doors.

Included in the demolition of the prior establishment, all on-site stormwater was replaced with a new system constructed to meet current stormwater quantity and quality standards. At the southern end of the site, there is now an onsite stormwater detention system in place. The system utilizes a 60-inch stormwater detention pipe to minimize any possible negative effects on the development of the public downstream drainage system. Significant roadway and intersection improvements were also completed as part of the project along South State Street, South 19th Street, and South Trafton Street.

Barghausen worked with the team of Ronhovde Architects LLC., A.H.B.L, Earth Solutions NW, LLC, and POE Construction to complete this project for Davis Property & Investment LLC. Our team provided civil engineering design, landscape architecture design, and permitting services for this distribution center.
