CVS Health is the country’s leading health care solutions company. Their retail division, CVS Pharmacy, has experienced rapid growth since its start in the 1960’s. The brand now has more than 9,000 locations throughout the U.S., including standalone retail stores and pharmacies within Target. Since 2013 we’ve worked with CVS and their associated developers to bring their West Coast expansion vision to life.
Barghausen has consistently provided multiple services on a number of locations at one time. Services include civil engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying for new CVS Pharmacy locations in Washington and Oregon. Our planning and permitting teams were also involved in development processes, obtaining all required entitlement and permit approvals to allow construction to commence. On specific locations we provided construction administration services and assisted the contractor with final inspection approvals and Certificates of Occupancy from jurisdictional planning departments. Through a multidisciplinary approach we accomplished developing up to 2-4 locations per year during its expansion. We finalized civil engineering design and obtained jurisdiction approvals to allow CVS to successfully open 7 new locations across the Pacific Northwest including locations in Everett, Federal Way, Seattle, Portland, and Lakewood.
Each project site was different and required unique problem solving abilities. One site in particular included negotiating with a jurisdiction to ensure CVS's building designs were accepted. Barghausen's planning and permitting experts worked with the jurisdiction to obtain exceptions and keep the project feasibility intact.
